Indications

Sergel is indicated for the following conditions:

  • ✓Major depressive disorder
  • ✓Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD)
  • ✓Panic disorder
  • ✓Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
  • ✓Social anxiety disorder
  • ✓Premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD)

Note: Always consult a registered physician before taking any medication.

Dosage & Administration

Adults

Initial: 50 mg once daily. May increase to 200 mg/day based on response

Children

25-50 mg once daily for children 6-12 years (for OCD)

Elderly

Start with lower dose, increase gradually

Administration

Take once daily, morning or evening, with or without food. Take consistently at the same time each day.

Important: Follow your doctor's instructions carefully. Do not adjust dosage without medical advice.

Side Effects

Sergel may cause the following side effects:

  • ⚠Nausea, diarrhea
  • ⚠Insomnia or drowsiness
  • ⚠Dry mouth
  • ⚠Sexual dysfunction
  • ⚠Sweating
  • ⚠Tremor
  • ⚠Weight changes

Seek immediate medical attention if you experience: Severe allergic reactions, difficulty breathing, chest pain, or any severe or persistent side effects.

Precautions & Warnings

Precautions

  • ⚠May increase suicidal thoughts in young adults initially
  • ⚠Do not stop abruptly - taper dose gradually
  • ⚠May cause serotonin syndrome when combined with other serotonergic drugs
  • ⚠Monitor for worsening depression or unusual behavior changes

Contraindications

Do not use Sergel if you have:

  • ✕Use with MAO inhibitors (within 14 days)
  • ✕Use with pimozide
  • ✕Hypersensitivity to sertraline
